iciHaiti - Fuel : The tension rises in Pétion-ville

Sunday since morning, the tension in Pétion-ville was palpable in several neighborhoods, while residents with no patience had taken the streets to give vent to their anger, given the shortage of fuel.

Some blame petrol station owners for creating fuel scarcity while at the same time supplying the black market while others point fingers at the Government's promises of fuel deliveries, described as lies by more than one...

Barricades of burning tires have been reported in front of the Best Western hotel, the Kinam hotel, close to St. Pierre's Square and the Oasis hotel on the Panamerican road, as well as in several arteries of the town of Pétion-ville making traffic difficult of cars.

Stone throwing and clashes between protesters and police have been reported in several areas of Pétion-ville...
