iciHaiti - Sympathy : A star of Haitian music has passed away
In a note of sympathy, Pradel Henriquez, the Minister of Culture paid a last tribute to the famous composer and saxophonist Raoul Guillaume (93 years old), who died on November 29 in Delmas 52 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32414-icihaiti-obituary-saxophonist-raoul-guillaume-passed-away.html

Note of sympathy from Minister Henriquez :

"This Sunday, November 29, has just died at his home, a meteor of Haitian music. Raoul Guillaume was 93 years old, as his age does not leave us indifferent, as the results of his life are enormous as just as enormous, his departure. Here and there, the word enormous does not have the same meaning at all. So that the whole town talks about it with sadness and dismay. It is because, Raoul Guillaume was a musician of genius. Passionate about his art. A worthy representative of his generation.

Musician, composer and saxophonist, it is thanks to the Issa El Saied orchestra that Raoul Guillaume will reveal himself to the general public in 1941.

From then on, he made a real career out of it to remain one of the greatest composers in our country. His favorite compositions bear witness to this: “Yoyo”, “Complainte paysanne”, “Madan Brino”, “Peze cafe”, “My brunette”, “Vive le foot ball” etc...

Maestro Guillaume also participated in the formation of several other musical groups of his time. He has collaborated with monsters of Haitian musical art such as the maestros, Nemours Jean-Baptiste, Wébert Sicot, Guy Durosier, or even, Joe Trouillot.

Raoul Guillaume was without a doubt a fine connoisseur who put his science and his constantly renewed talent at the service of musical creation in Haiti.

The Ministry of Culture and Communication welcomes the departure of the immortal, Raoul Guillaume, while asking his family, his fellow musicians, the national musical and cultural sector, all those who mourn his disappearance, to receive his deep sympathies.

Maestro Guillaume, may the earth be light to you.

Pradel Henriquez
Minister."
