The Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien issued an order on January 4 on traffic, the parking of heavy goods vehicles (truck, container, bus, road tractor etc...) and on the establishment of garages, the washing in the open air of cars in the town. The Haitian National Police have been ordered to enforce it.

The penalties provided for against drivers and owners of heavy goods vehicles, within the framework of this Decree, will come into force on the 15th day from the date of publication. Any contravention of this decree will be recorded and prosecuted in accordance with the penal laws and regulations of the Republic in force.

In addition, this municipal decree formally prohibits the parking of vehicles, the establishment of garages and the washing of cars in the open air in the historic city center, in the two entrances to the city and on Boulevard du Cap-Haitien. Any vehicle (truck, container, car, scale, trailer) parked in prohibited areas will be towed and will be fined from 4,000 to 10,000 Gourdes.

Garage and car wash owners who do not respect the areas prohibited by the Cap-Haitien City Hall will be arrested and imprisoned in accordance with the laws of the Republic.

In addition, let us recall that the City Council also published a Decree which regulates the circulation of motor tricycles (three-wheeled motorbikes) in Cap-Haitien https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-32696-icihaiti-notice-important-regulation-of-the-circulation-of-tricycles-in-cap-haitien.html Decree which prohibits the circulation of these vehicles in the town except exemption and specifies the amount of fines to which offenders are exposed.
