iciHaiti - Earthquake : Specialized teams mobilized to assess the houses
Engineer Wilson Édouard, Minister of Public Works informs the population of the departments affected by the earthquake of August 14, 2021, that instructions have been issued for teams of post-earthquake civil engineering evaluators from the Ministry to be mobilized immediately with a view to determining the condition of all infrastructure, in particular buildings and houses in the cities and towns concerned.

Following the evaluation reports of the structures of the buildings, the Ministry of Public Works will issue each owner a certificate to inform him of the possibility or not of occupying and inhabiting the premises. If the building is recoverable, according to the assessors, the nature of the work to be undertaken to secure it and make it habitable and safe will then be specified.

Minister Édouard emphasizes that violators of these provisions will be liable to the penalties provided for by law. Work undertaken without authorization will be stopped by the Inspectors of the town halls, of the Administrative Councils of Communal Sections (CASECs) and of the Administrations of Communal Sections (ASECs) as well as those of the Ministry.
