In a note dated August 18, 2022, Digicel informs that it is currently unable to repair an optical fiber broken on August 17, due to armed clashes between gangs in Savien (Artibonite), which prevents its technicians from have safe access to the optical fiber that needs to be repaired.

Digicel indicates that the rupture of this optical fiber has serious consequences, in particular for the municipalities of Liancourt, Verrete, La Chapelle and the surrounding areas "[...] This fiber affects 10 sites in the Artibonite department, which is why the internet service no longer works in these areas even if the calls continue to be made [...]"

In conclusion, Digicel apologizes to its customers in the areas affected by this disruption "We want to apologize to our customers, who deserve to be able to stay connected and assure them that we have already taken all possible measures to restore service."
