Soldiers of the 14th battalion of the Dominican army, intercepted and seized in the province "Independencia", about 17,000 packs of brand cigarettes "Capital" from Haiti.

The army battalion commander in Duvergé, Colonel Pérez Feliz, said the actions were ordered by the army's general commander, Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre.

He indicated that the contraband cigarettes seized were sent to the 5th Infantry Brigade, in Barahona, to be handed over to the General Directorate of Customs.

In addition, a truck, a motorcycle and several animals (donkeys and horses) used in smuggling during operations in the communities of Cacique, Los Pinos del Edén and Los Bolos were also seized.
