iciHaiti - Reprisals : Attempts to set fire to two Dominican consulates in Haiti
Friday, November 18, 2022, unidentified individuals attempted to set fire to the Dominican Consulate in Cap-Haitien, the second largest in Haiti "Protesters set fire to the access door of the Consulate. The fire was quickly under control thank to firefighters and the National Police of Haiti (PNH) intervened to disperse the demonstrators by firing warning shots. Another attempt unsuccessfully targeted the Dominican consulate located in Ounaminthe.

These attacks against the Dominican consular missions seem to be reprisals against the massive deportations of Haitians in an irregular migratory situation living illegally on Dominican territory https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38104-haiti-flash-haitians-massively-expelled-from-the-dominican-republic.html according to several testimonies.

Let's recall that the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) has intensified the repatriations of Haitians in an irregular migratory situation in recent days in the populations of the Eastern region (on average between 800 and 1,000 per day). For the moment, these controls do not yet affect the construction and tourism sectors where most Haitians have valid immigration documents.
