By popular demand, the film "FREDA", official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2021 (Un Certain Regard) is the very first feature film by director Gessica Généus, will be screened on July 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Outremont Theater in Montreal, as part of the 17th Festival Haiti en Folie. The screening will be followed by a pre-recorded discussion with actress Néhémie Bastien hosted by Fabienne Colas.

Synopsis:

Freda lives with her family in a popular neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. They survive thanks to their small street shop. Faced with the precariousness and the rise of violence in Haiti, everyone is wondering whether to leave or stay. Freda wants to believe in the future of her country.

Gessica Généus is a Haitian actress, singer and director. She began her career at 17. In 2010, after the earthquake, she got involved in the reconstruction of her country, and worked for the United Nations, then obtained a scholarship to study at the Acting International in Paris. She then returned to Haiti, and created her production company, Ayizan Production, in order to develop her own productions.
