iciHaiti - NOTICE International conference : «Haiti’s contribution to the emancipation of peoples» 12/11/2023 07:26:23
This international conference, as a prelude to the commemoration of the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières (November 18, 2023), pursues, among other things, the main objectives of: 1) Analyze the scope of the Haitian Revolution and the tumultuous impact of the proclamation of Haitian independence in the capitalist world economy of the time; 2) Recall the contribution of Haiti to the emancipation of the peoples of the Americas, particularly in Latin America, and its contribution to the construction of Pan-Americanism; 3) Recall, beyond the American continent, the struggle generated by Haiti at the global level against the system of political economy of slavery and the regime of colonial exploitation which were established as the doctrine of a dominant ideology on several latitudes, in particularly in Europe, Africa and the Americas; 4) Analyze Haiti's place in today's world and consider what can be done or invented to restore this country to an honorable place worthy of its emancipatory history. Through this conference, several thematic axes will be addressed, in particular : Thematic axis 1: The Universality of the Revolution and the independence of Haiti; Thematic axis 2: Haitian Independence and the Caribbean; Thematic axis 3: Haitian Independence and Latin America; Thematic axis 4: Haitian Independence and Africa; Thematic axis 5: Haitian Independence and Europe; Thematic axis 6: The world's contribution to Haiti's economic independence. It should be noted that this conference, which will be held in hybrid format (online and in person), will bring together national and international speakers. IH/ iciHaiti
