The opening ceremony of the School Rally (from October 31 to November 4, 2024) on Disaster Risk Reduction and Education for Sustainable Development took place on Thursday, October 31, 2024, in the commune of Les Cayes (Southern Department), in the presence of several authorities including the Acting Representative of UNESCO in Haiti Khadim Sylla, the Directors General of National Education, the Environment, Civil Protection and the National Education Fund. This rally brings together approximately 200 students from 40 schools in the South Department.

At this opening ceremony, Louis Manière, the Marketing Director of Malta H and the Head of Office of the World Food Programme (WFP) joined the Directors General Yves Roblin cx (Ministry of Education), Joseph Emmanuel PHILIPPE (Ministry of the Environment) Jean Ronald Joseph of the National Education Fund and Emmanuel Pierre of Civil Protection among others…

It was a colorful and emotional moment for students who were discovering this type of activity for the first time.

The Flanm dance troupe gave them an idea of the artistic and cultural aspect of the rally with its choreographies.

This event is co-financed by the Climate Change Adaptation Fund and several Haitian and UN partners.
