Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Sofitel Hotel in Cotonou (Benin), on the sidelines of the 1st Benin-CARICOM Ministerial Meeting, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Beninese counterpart, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, discussed security issues in Haiti, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of the security forces in Haiti, in particular the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H).

The two chancellors signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which Haiti and Benin commit to supporting each other in the fight against organized crime and related activities.

This MoU (the 2nd during this event https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44025-haiti-diplomacy-chancellor-jean-baptiste-strengthens-relations-with-benin.html ) includes several components, including training, intelligence sharing, joint military exercises, military assistance in the event of threats in either country.
