iciHaiti - Politic : Dominican Republic deported 31,204 Haitians (January 2025)
The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) of the Dominican Republic deported to their countries of origin, in January 2025, 31,213 people, of whom 31,204 were Haitians in an irregular migratory situation arrested during 266 control operations on Dominican territory.

In addition to Haitians, the DGM deported the same month: 2 Mexican citizens, 2 Nigerians, 1 citizen of Saint Lucia, 1 from Trinidad, 1 from Ghana, 1 from Canada and 1 from Venezuela.

The DGM stated that during these operations, immigration agents worked in coordination with, among others : members of the National Army, Navy, Air Force, Dominican National Police (PND), Public Ministry..

The largest number of immigration operations took place in Greater Santo Domingo, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, San Cristobal, Peravia, La Altagracia, Montecristi, San Pedro de Macoris, Espaillat, Monsignor Nouel, Santiago, Santiago Rodriguez, Barahona, Puerto Plata and Hato Mayor del Rey, El Seibo, San José de Ocoa, Dajabon, Valverde, San Juan, Pedernales and Azua.

In January, the DGM also dismantled human trafficking networks and brought to justice 17 people accused of violating Law 137-03 on the transportation of illegal migrants.
