iciHaiti - FLASH : Inauguration of a new Cholera Treatment Center
As part of a strengthened national mobilization against the resurgence of cholera, Dr. Bertrand Sinal, Minister of Public Health, personally participated in the opening of the new Cholera Treatment Center (CTC) in Bristou (Road de Frères), established by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Belgium.

This presence of the highest authority in the Ministry underscores the importance the Government attaches to this resurgence of cholera.

After the ceremony, the Minister, leading a delegation composed of the Western Health Directorate (DSO) and the Directorate of Epidemiology, Laboratories, and Research (DELR), also visited Pèlerin 5, in Diègue, to inspect three water sources suspected of being the source of the cholera outbreak in the area.

On site, the findings of the experts and the Minister were unequivocal : evident pollution of water points, due to the proximity of homes and the presence of organic waste nearby.

Faced with this situation, Minister Sinal immediately announced concrete measures, in coordination with the city hall and DINEPA, which has already begun treating the area's water by installing a water chlorination system.
