Haiti intensifies dialogue on security and elections with the OAS

On Monday, April 20, 2026, the Prime Minister of Haiti, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, held a bilateral meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin.

Discussions focused primarily on the security situation in Haiti, with particular emphasis on strategies for combating insecurity and strengthening institutional capacities. In this regard, discussions addressed the deployment of the Gang Sipression Force (GSF), with a view to restoring public order and protecting the population.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Haitian authorities' commitment to acting firmly and responsibly in the face of security challenges, while stressing the importance of close cooperation with regional and international partners.

The electoral process was also discussed, with the Prime Minister emphasizing the need to establish the necessary security conditions for holding credible, free, and inclusive elections within the planned timeframe.
