iciHaiti - Back to the neighborhood : Distribution of drinking water, 1,000-gallon tanks, water treatment products

As part of the "Back to the Neighborhood" program, initiated by Prime Minister Fils-Aimé in the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area and under the instructions of Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), the Regional Office of Drinking Water and Sanitation (OREPA-West) is continuing and intensifying its interventions to support the targeted populations.

Under the coordination of Karl-Eddy Thelusma, Regional Director of OREPA-West, significant operations to distribute drinking water and service water by tanker trucks are being carried out in Solino and the surrounding neighborhoods. This initiative also includes the distribution of 1,000-gallon storage tanks, faucets, buckets (bokits), water treatment products, and other equipment designed to facilitate access to quality water.

To date, more than 25 trucks of drinking water, 400 buckets, 400 taps, two 1,000-gallon storage tanks, and a significant quantity of water treatment chemicals have been distributed to the residents of Solino and the surrounding areas.

In addition to these emergency measures, DINEPA is actively working to restore the operation of the Delmas 19 and Nazon pumping stations. Technical teams are mobilized to make these facilities fully operational and thus allow for the gradual resumption of drinking water supply through the distribution network serving the population.
