Beginning of the work of the Île-à-Vaches airport

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe announced during a visit to the île-à-vache, that the official beginning of construction work of the airport of teh latter is scheduled for 20 August. He also participated in a working meeting with all sectors involved in the tourist development of the island, to the agenda : the action plan for the next 6 months, the Social Engineering Program, the preliminary assessment of soil of the island and the formation of the Steering Committee.

Inauguration of the Maritime Base of the PNH

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and Canadian Ambassador Henri-Paul Normandin, participated in the ceremony of inauguration of the Maritime Base of the PNH (in Les Cayes). On this occasion the Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador of Canada for the Marine Base funded to the tune of 7 million Canadian dollars.

Meeting with Canadian investors

Maryse Noel and other senior officials of the Ministry of Tourism, met with a delegation of Canadian investors led by the Haitian Consul in Montreal, Justin Viard. This meeting took place around the tourism development plan of the country prepared by the Ministry, the investment opportunities in the sector and mechanisms to benefit from state funding.

Tripartite Cooperation for Environment

Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba have strengthened their cooperation to preserve the environment by the opening of a nursery located in the Dominican province of Elías Piña, near the Haitian border. With a production capacity of between 650,000 and 800,000 seedlings of different species in three cycles each year, the nursery will serve to reforestation within the framework of the Caribbean Biological Corridor between the three countries.

Results of examinations of the 9th year fundamental

The results of examinations of the 9th year fundamental for the Department of the West, are available since Tuesday, August 6, 2013. According Miloody Vincent, Director of Communications of the Ministry of National Education, the success rate is 77%, or 77.577 admitted on 100,228 participants.
