Thursday, after a special session organized by the Senate, Senator Andris Riché became President of the Senate. On 7 senators present, he obtained 5 votes for, one vote against and one abstention. He replaces former Senator Simon Desras Dieuseul whose term ended on 12 January. The office of the Senate is composed of Senators Andris Riché (President), Steven Irvenson Benoît (Secretary) and Fritz Carlos Lebon (Quaestor). Arrest of 4 individuals in Cap-Haïtien Between Saturday and Wednesday, 4 individuals were arrested in Cap-Haïtien, two escaped from prison and an ex-convict who received a presidential pardon in December.
