As announced last week, the mortgage department of the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) is open since this week to any employee who is insured by ONA for at least 5 years. The mortgage may be paid over a period of 25 years with an interest rate of 10%. Emmanuel Ménard, the Director of the ONA stressed that "This is an opportunity to allow certain insured to have the opportunity to purchase a house, land, etc...", stating that public school teachers, staff of public hospitals, the police officers also have access to mortgages, even if they are not insured to ONA.
