iciHaiti - Social : Digicel Foundation donated 8 million gourdes

The Digicel Foundation has donated 8 million gourdes to the NGO American Jewish World Service (AJWS) to finance the activities of several other institutions, established in the two nations that share the island and who are working for many years for the rights of Haitian migrants including : "Movimento de Mujeres Dominico Haitiana" (MUDHA) and in Haiti, the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR).
Through its partnership with AJWS and other NGOs, the Digicel Foundation will also provide its support in the process of documenting of the situation of people living in irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic while sensitizing the public about the situation.
Josefa Gauthier, President of the Digicel Foundation said that "the Foundation can not remained insensitive. Not being a specialized agency in the field, it was essential that we make use of a organization which has a wide experience in the field of humanitarian crises through support of local and national organizations [...]"
