iciHaiti - Security : Significant seizures in the South

Between 22 and 24 September, the Office for the Fight against Illicit Narcotics Trafficking (BLTS) with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in several joint operations in the commnes of Saint-Louis du Sud and of the Île-à-Vache seized more than 2.5 tons of marijuana (2,539.39 kg).

It was also seized 15 firearms (two M16 assault rifles), fifteen chargers, a large quantity of ammunition (695) and 3 motorcycles.

Four suspects were arrested including a Jamaican Paul Blake and a woman, announced the Commissioner Garry Desrosiers, Deputy Spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH). Those arrested are accused of illicit drug trafficking, arms trafficking, illegal detention and port of firearms and criminal conspiracy.

Mallet Louko, a major trafficker remains actively sought for his alleged involvement in the case, many of the drugs having been found in his home.
