Thursday, International Day of Women living in rural areas, the President Michel Martelly declared "I salute the courage of Haitian women on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Women living in rural areas. I say to all the women who work the land, throughout the territory of Haiti, happy birthday. Wherever you are in the country, I love you. The International Day of Women living in rural areas create a space for us to recognize the work done by women in rural areas for development."

By late afternoon, the Head of State went to Gressier to attend the celebration ceremony of the day and declared "I pay tribute to all the women of Haiti, a symbol of trust and courage. All the problems are not yet solved, but during my tenure, Haiti has taken the right direction."
