Tuesday, Jimmy Albert, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action proceeded to the inauguration of the National Committee of Monitoring of National Assizes of Sports (CONASANS) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15976-haiti-sports-formation-of-the-monitoring-committee-of-national-assizes-of-sports.html

The Minister Albert, recalled the process leading to the Summit of the Assises Nationales of Sports in which the Declaration of Marriott was adopted. After greeting the efforts and implications of the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH), he announced that a Canadian expert proposed by the COH, will have to work on the draft Law on Sport in order to increase the chances that it is passed by the 50th legislature.

The organization of the National Assizes of Sports is the biggest sporting event conducted in Haiti for the past four decades, declared Ms. Margaret Graham, President of the Haitian Federation of Volleyball. According to her, the vote of the framework law on sport and the adoption of a National Sports Policy is a must for the rational, methodical and disciplined development of sport in Haiti.

The 25 members of the National Committee, to accomplish, develop all strategies, approaches and actions considered appropriate to bring to a vote and the promulgation of the law on sport and to ensure compliance with the commitments made by the authorities and the actors of the Haitian sports sector.

The Committee held its first working session immediately after his inauguration.
