At least 6 people died in less than a week in the town of Borgne, in the north, because of heavy rains in recent days, and which also affected thousands of people in Cap-Haitien (North) where mudslides mixed trash invaded some residential areas and to Port-de-Paix (North East), authorities said.

Borgne relief agencies reported that the rains also threaten several other departments. Haitian Civil Protection announced Thursday that it has declared a red alert about the possibility of landslides and floods.
