iciHaiti - Social : 10% of families in Haiti affected by migration

Over the past 6 months, 10% of households in Haiti, had at least one family member who had migrated. 46% had migrated to the Dominican Republic, 8% in Latin America, 5% in the United States, 25% towards other departments of Haiti and 16% to other communes in the same department.

The primary reason for migration was to find work 82% of cases and 50% to sent money back to their families on a regular basis to cover food expenditures.

Note that only 2% of households reported to have received repatriates (forced or voluntary) from the Dominican Republic since June 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16326-haiti-social-more-than-129-000-haitians-have-left-dr-in-8-months.html and the majority of those received, arrived with no resources.
