iciHaiti - Grand'Anse : Masons training in earthquake-resistant construction 31/03/2016 09:52:48
The United Nations Development Programme in Haiti (Haiti UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and the Ministry of Public Works, train masons on methods of earthquake-resistant construction with funding from the Department for International Development (UK DFID). This initial training is part of a series that will ultimately reach 400 builders throughout the Grand'Anse. A multi-hazard mapping is also underway to support town councils in control of urbanization.
This capacity building initiative is crucial considering the pace of urbanization of the Grand'Anse and active seismic fault, which runs through the Deep South.
