iciHaiti - Weather : Forecast for the next hurricane season

The University of Colorado that is the reference in the field has made available the first forecast for the next hurricane season 2016. It provides 12 storms, 5 hurricanes, 2 major to which must be added the Alex storm earlier this year.

Note that this week the President a.i. Jocelerme Privert appealed to the competent public authorities and the various stakeholders of National risk management system to take all necessary measures to safeguard the lives and property, at the approach of the hurricane season.

The Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT) through the Civil Protection (DPC), the National Emergency Operations Centre (COUN) and town halls; the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), through the National Meteorological Center (CNM); the Ministry of Public Works Transport and Communications (MTPTC) through the Maritime Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH); and their institutional partners, are invited to animate information sessions, conduct awareness campaigns and develop or update a National Contingency Plan, taking into account the level of vulnerability of the country, in order to deal with emergencies.
