Saturday Haitian protesters blocked the metal door of the border in Jimani, which allows travel to Haiti. Very angry, they demanded to the Dominican Detachment of Border Operations (DOIF) and to the CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza Terrestre), the restitution of 8 bags of rice and garlic seized by the Dominican authorities, who affirmed on their sides, it was smuggled goods...

Haitians blocked the road traffic and have even seized the keys of a Dominican truck driver from Haiti, blocking the crossing.

Police and military authorities of Jimani said they are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the blockade. Furthermore, a formal request has been made to re-open the border and allow container trucks returning from Haiti after the delivery of humanitarian assistance to return home.
