iciHaiti - Humanitarian : WASH Program figures in the Great South 01/11/2016 10:30:33
According to the latest status report of the sector WASH (access to water, sanitation and hygiene) in Haiti issued on Saturday, 29 October, at least 100,000 people a day are supplied with water through 21 mobile water treatment units (12 South, 8 in Grande Anse and 1 in teh Nippes) producing 470 m3/d of water treated, 73,000 people received bottles of water from 3 partners in 10 communes. All water systems of 3 departments were quickly evaluated after Matthew. On 65 System Drinking Water Supply (SAEP), which were already operational before the hurricane, 45% were damaged (no water in the system). 10,000 people received minor repairs on six networks in the Nippes and South; At least 404,000 purification tablets Aquatabs were distributed in the localities of Grande Anse and South; In terms of hygiene, at least 130,000 people have benefited of promotional campaigns on hygiene in 10 communes from 4 actors; At least 12,000 families have received hygiene kits from 11 actors in 22 communes; At least 2,250 families have benefited from the distribution of 2,250 jerrycans; 39 shelters were assisted in cleaning toilets and hand washing stations.
