Resolutely focused on its commitment to build 175 schools in Haiti, on January 18th, the Digicel Foundation inaugurated its 170th school : the École Nationale Communautaire of Carrefour Lundi, located in Petit Trou de Nippes, in the presence of the local authorities of the Commune and hundreds of residents.

Thanks to this new construction, the school now includes 11 new classrooms to earthquake-resistant standards where nearly 500 students will be able to continue their basic studies in a safer and learning environment.

More than 55,000 students now attend a school built by the Digicel Haiti Foundation. They will be close to 60,000 by the end of this "construction program".

Let's recall that the Foundation had set itself the mission of completing the construction of its 175th schools in March 2017, but following the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew last October, it had to temporarily suspend its project in order to give priority to the thousands of victims and to focus on repairing some of its schools that resisted the hurricane but that have been damaged.
