iciHaiti - Cholera : Financial contribution from India

First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of India to the UN Ashish Sinha handed a check of $100,000 for the UN Haiti Cholera Response Multi-Partner Trust Fund.

Let's recall that beginning of December 2016, the United Nations announced a plan to help the families of the victims and improve access to care and treatment in the short term and to build water, sanitation and health systems in the medium and long term, with the hope of mobilizing $ 400 million over two years.

But donations from countries are scarce and modest, and the UN is struggling to raise funds. Dr. Nabarro, UN Special Advisor on Development Program, declared "Money remains a serious problem [...] I have never had as much trouble raising money," while affirming not to be discouraged and having good hope that more countries would contribute to the fund in the coming months...
