The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami informs the Haitian nationals that Hurricane Irma is currently a threat to the State of Florida. According to meteorologists, Irma is now at level 5 and is supposed to touch Florida on Saturday or Sunday.

The Consulate urges members of the Haitian community in Florida to be vigilant, to keep in touch with their families in Florida and Haiti, to remain advised and informed by monitoring the local media (radio, television, etc.), and in case of emergency call (305) 793-1665.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami thanks all of them or their collaboration and remains at their disposal.

Note: Tourists in the Key West resort of the Keys archipelago in southern Florida received an evacuation order on Tuesday, September 5, and began leaving Wednesday morning. The evacuation order will, moreover, be rapidly extended to the inhabitants, said the authorities of the county of Monroe in a press release.
