This week, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú, the Head of Cooperation of the Canadian Mission in Haiti, went to Léôgane and Gressier to visit a maternal and child health project.

This project builds on Cardinal Leger's new action strategy and addresses two of the maternal, newborn and child health priorities identified by the Canadian government: strengthening health networks and reducing the burden of diseases that affect mothers and young children.

The objective of PROSAMI is to reduce the mortality rates of pregnant women, newborns and children under 5 years of age and to directly assist more than 30,000 people in these two densely populated communes and by providing support to four health centers to provide emergency obstetric and neonatal services.

Canada provided 7,5 million dollars Canadian to Oeuvre Léger for the implementation of these activities.
