iciHaiti - Canada : Haiti's ambassador talk about our country about Canadian schoolchildren

Thursday, April 12, Ambassador of Haiti to Canada Frantz Liautaud, was invited to St. Michael's Catholic School in Fitzroy Harbor, Ontario, to talk about Haiti to 150 students from this school aged 3 to 14 years.

Ambassador Liautaud also enjoyed listening to the experience of a St. Michael class who partnered with another class at St. Cecilia School in Nepean, Ontario, who worked on three children's books written by our national Dany Laferrière. These stories taking place in Petit-Goâve, allowed children to take an interest in Haiti and its culture. They have done research on our country by having exchanges with Haitian schools via internet to learn how Haitian students live their school experiences.

Both classes also wanted to help Haitian schoolchildren by raising funds for an organization working in the country. They raised nearly 2,200 Canadian dollars for the "Chalice" organization ( www.chalice.ca/haiti#!Father_Pat_in_Haiti ).

After the youth's presentation, the Ambassador answered the students' questions about Haiti.
