iciHaiti - DR : 163 Haitians deported during migratory control

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM), conducted migration control operations in the province of Monte Plata (north of the capital) in the sectors El Tamarindo, Pueblo Nuevo, Barrio and the province of Sanchez Ramirez (Center) including Las Flores in the municipality of Cotuí.

Following intelligence operations and denunciation of the population, teams of inspectors and agents of the DGM, with the support of the Dominican army, in coordination with provincial staff prosecutors, were deployed. 425 foreigners (mostly Haitians) were screened.

163 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were arrested and deported by the Elías Piña border post and 1 Venezuelan man was transferred to the DGM Detention Center in Haina, to initiate an expulsion procedure.

The Lieutenant General Maximum William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of the DGM, warned the people in illegal situation on the Dominican territory, that the migratory control operations will continue on the whole territory.
