iciHaiti - DR : Nearly 10,000 Haitians deported or returned to Haiti (April 2018)

In its latest report the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) of the Dominican Republic reported that in April 2018, nearly 10,000 Haitians were deported to Haiti or returned to the Dominican border.

5,801 Haitians were turned back at the border while attempting to enter the Dominican territory illegally and 5,599 Haitians in an irregular migration situation were deported after being arrested during control operations on Dominican territory

The DGM also mentions in its report the deportation of some foreigners coming from: Germany, Brazil, China, Cuba, the United States, Puerto Rico and Venezuela without specifying the number [generally very low] as well as the voluntary return of 91 foreigners of different nationalities by air, which is a new phenomenon resulting from the pressure exerted by the multiplication of migration control over the entire territory.
