iciHaiti - Ouanaminthe : A building under construction collapses, at least 3 dead
On Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at the Limina border crossing in the border town of Ouanaminthe, the concrete roof of a building under construction suddenly collapsed.

Witnesses report that several people were inside, some still asleep, when the roof collapsed. A neighbor recounted : "We heard a noise like thunder. Then screams. We ran, but it was too late; the house (under construction) was already on the ground. There are people trapped under the rubble."

The bodies of three victims were found at the scene, but the exact number of people trapped in the rubble remains unknown. Rescue teams, consisting of police, Civil Protection agents, and the Protected Areas Security Brigade, are in the area, but the work is slow and dangerous due to the weight of the concrete. "We can't lift the slab without the proper equipment. We're doing everything we can with the means at hand," said a Civil Protection officer.

The provisional death toll stands at at least three, with an unknown number of people still trapped in the rubble.
