iciHaiti - DR : 20 years in prison for a Haitian who killed his ex-partner
The judges of the 2nd National District Collegiate Court (Santo-Domingo) after receiving the opinion of the prosecutor, represented by the prosecutors Rosa Alba García and María Silvestre, sentenced a Haitian, Wilner Senat to 20 years in prison, convicted for murder of his ex-partner Gertrude Eugene also of Haitian nationality, he will serve his sentence at the national penitentiary La Victoria.

The crime took place on the night of February 9, 2017, in Cristo Rey (National District), in the residence of Gertrude Eugene, ex-partner of the accused. According to the indictment, the accused armed with a knife, hit the victim several times in different parts of her body. The accusation details that at that moment, a neighbor heard the calls for help then, she went out on the patio and there, she saw the wounded young woman covered with blood, sitting on a step front the house and called for help.

The accused immediately thereafter were fugitive, pursued by the victim's brother and the neighborhood residents who managed to catch him and disarm him and took him to the police station of the area.

Unfortunately, because of the serious injuries received, Gertrude Eugene died while being transported by an emergency 911 ambulance to a Capital Health Center.
