Representatives of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic call on the authorities concerned to put an end to the presence of illegal Haitians in all tourist zones of the country.
According to Ernesto Veloz, President of the Association of Hotels in the Eastern Region, and Frank Rainieri, President of the important investment group of Punta Cana, a pioneer of tourism in the region, these nationals in migration situation irregular promote crime and insecurity in the suburbs.
According to tourism operators and entrepreneurs, the Dominican Republic should not allow the presence or hiring of illegal Haitians in tourist zones like Playa Bávaro or Punta Cana, which can be transformed into suburbs, with anarchic ghettos with all the economic consequences resulting for the tourism industry.
