iciHaiti - Thomassin : Attempted eviction from a public school
Early Monday morning, to 8 days of the start of classes, of agents of the Town Hall of Pétion-ville and the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) accompanied by the Polic, of a judge of peace of Pétion-ville and a bailiff, intervened with an order of eviction of Lycée communal Thomassin 32, public school property of the Town Hall of Pétion-ville where 1,300 disadvantaged children are educated.

At the Town Hall, the Deputy Mayor of Pétion-Ville says she is surprised not to be aware of this eviction order...

When the agents of the Town Hall started to move the equipment and the archives of the high school to spread them on the public road, the local residents and parents took the streets to protest and oppose this action. Very angry protesters burned down the public servants' van. Panicked by this escalation of violence, the eviction team has retreated and left the scene.

Jean Letert, the Director of the Lycée thinks that the best way to solve this problem is to use the law to obtain justice, because what has happened is only harming the students.
