iciHaiti - Social : 10% of women in the metropolitan area beat their husbands
The 6th Mortality, Morbidity and Service Utilization Survey (EMMUS-VI), conducted by the Haitian Institute of Childhood in collaboration with the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health with the technical assistance from the World Program on Demographic and Health Surveys looks at domestic violence and reveals that :

The proportion of women who reported having physically abused (physical violence) their husband / partner is 6% (3% in the last 12 months).

The frequency of violence against husband / partner is 10 times higher for women who have experienced domestic violence than for women who have never experienced violence.

The percentage of urban women who abuse their spouses is twice as high as in rural areas (8% versus 4%). It is in the Metropolitan Area and in households with the highest economic well-being that we find the highest percentages (respectively 10% and 8.9%).

It is observed that women whose spouse is often drunk (22%) and those whose spouse has exercised at least one of the five forms of control towards them (14%) (jealous or angry if she speaks to others men, frequently accuses her of being unfaithful, does not allow her to meet her friends, tries to limit her contacts with her family and insists on knowing where she is at all times) more frequently than others committed acts of violence against their spouse

Percentage of women aged 15-49 in union or breakup who physically abused their husband / partner while he had not been beaten or physically assaulted, at any point during the 12 months preceding the survey, depending on their experience of domestic violence, socio-demographic characteristics and those of their husbands / spouse - Source EMMUS-VI Haiti 2016-2017 Page 409/410) is 22.5%

15-19 years: 6.4%
20-24 years: 5.4%
25-29 years: 3.4%
30-39 years: 3.0%
40-49 years: 1.7%
