iciHaiti - Technology : First International Forum on Internet Governance Haiti 2018
Thursday, September 13 at the Montana Hotel will be held the first Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Haiti 2018, around the theme "Connect disconnected or unconnected and build the future of digital Haiti"

This forum is organized by the "Internet Society" Chapter Haiti which is supported by LACNIC Latin America and Caribbean Network Information Centre and IGF Support Association, represent international partners investing in the Latin America and Caribbean region to foster and encourage discussion about Internet Governance.

The theme calls for debate on connectivity and internet access in Haiti to combat digital exclusion in a multi-stakeholder approach by promoting initiatives aimed at developing infrastructures and reducing inequalities in access to the Internet. As an important indicator of development, the availability of broadband for all, is also a necessity in Haiti.

Recall that according to the report "State of Broadband 2016 in Latin America and the Caribbean" published by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Haiti, Cuba and Nicaragua are the 3 countries, among the population of Latin America and the Caribbean, with the worst penetration rate is less than 15% of households connected https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18610-haiti-technology-haiti-cuba-and-nicaragua-the-worst-internet-penetration-rate.html
