On Saturday, at the approach of the opening of the judicial year, in order to assess prison needs and observe the conditions of detention, Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant, accompanied by the First Lady Martine Moïse, Jean Roody Aly the Minister of Justice, Ronsard St Cyr Secretary of State for Public Security, Michel-Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and local elected officials, visited the civilian prisons of Cabaret and Croix-des-Bouquets.

At the end of these visits, the Head of the Government gave the guarantee that urgent provisions will be taken and an analysis of the inventoried cases will be carried out to better apprehend the problematic of the prolonged preventive detention and to bring appropriate answers.
