Following intelligence operations and the collection of denunciations of the Dominican population, aimed at locating Haitians in irregular migratory situation, the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) informed that several control operations were conducted in the same day in the Provinces of Santiago de los Caballeros and Valverde, as well as certain sectors of the National District and Municipality of Santo Domingo East.

The control teams were composed of inspectors and agents of the DGM, supported by the Dominican army, the municipal police and representatives of the public prosecutors of the concerned Provinces.

562 Haitians were detained of whom 422 who were in irregular migration situation were transferred to the border posts of Dajabón and Elías Piña, to be registered before their deportation to Haiti.
