At least 79 schools were damaged or destroyed by the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that hit the northwest of the country last October 6th https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25744-haiti-flash-earthquake-of-59-in-the-north-of-haiti.html revealed this week revealed Pierre Josué Argenor Cadet, the Minister of National Education.

According to the report of the Minister, 55 educational institutions in the North West Department, 10 North and 14 Artibonite were partially or completely destroyed by the earthquake.

In spite of this situation, Cadet said that the students had already returned to class and announced the rehabilitation of schools damaged by the earthquake, stating "Pending the rehabilitation of schools, we will place tarpaulins to allow students to continue to follow their classes."
