Friday, October 20, a binational market day, Dominican and Haitian buyers and sellers at the BORDER market in Pedernales province were less numerous because of the socio-political unrest in Haiti this week, said Lieutenant-Colonel Aldo Fernandez, Director. Deputy Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT).

However, the established border markets of Independencia, Elías Piñas and Dajabón do not appear to have been affected and functioned normally.

Lieutenant-Colonel Fernandez pointed out that so far the border has remained calm.
