iciHaiti - Politic : The local authorities demand 10% of the national budget

Represented by the Deputy Mayors Jean Jonas Saint-Juste and Mrs. Géraldine Cétoute, the Municipal Council of Croix-des-Bouquets took part in the First National Congress of the National Federation of Mayors of Haiti (FENAMH) and pleaded for the strengthening of local authorities and the autonomy of the communes, convinced that communities are the pillars of Haiti's development. At the end of the Congress (October 31) the mayors of the 140 communes of the Republic adopted a resolution to demand, inter alia :
10% of the budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019 for the benefit of the local authorities;The creation of a communal police called PoliCom;The respect for the duration of the term of mayors and mayors;The creation of a Ministry dedicated to decentralization and local authorities;The adoption of the provisions guaranteeing the immunity of mayors;The presence of an office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) in all the communes of Haiti.IH/ iciHaiti
