iciHaiti - Justice : Not a day more, not a day less
In the Civil Prison of Les Cayes, it is not unusual for some convicts to spend more time in prison than expected. The cause, the jurisdiction of Côteaux that faces a set of problems preventing it from effectively fulfill its mission. Consequence, the respect of the rights of the convicts is mortgaged, a situation which concerns the Protector of the Citizen, Me Renan Hedouville.
In order to alleviate this problem, the South Departmental Directorate of the Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) has developed a new strategy in partnership with the jurisdiction of Côteaux, implemented by Me Emiel François, Head of the Service of Côteaux, which allowed to hand over to 8 condemned their devices of judgment. Now, with this precious legal document, these prisoners are assured that they will be released on the scheduled date.
