iciHaiti - Social : Ambitious objectives of the Observatory of Haitian Youth
The Action Plan of the Observatory of the Haitian Youth "Advocacy plan for sexual and reproductive health rights of adolescents and young people, 2019-2021" presented recently, aims at 3 ambitious goals to the horizon 2021 :

Zero maternal deaths;
Zero unmet need in terms of family planning;
Zero gender violence.

Recall that according to the 6th Haiti Mortality, Morbidity and Service Utilization Survey (EMMUS-VI), carried out in Haiti, 8% of adolescents aged 15-19 are already mothers and 2% were pregnant at the time of the survey. 27% of uneducated teenagers have already started their reproductive life and only 6% of girls with a high school education or above.

In its Action Plan, the bservatory of Haitian Youth plans to carry out a quantitative survey on the drop-out of school education for young girls because of unwanted pregnancies. According to William Thélusmond, the general coordinator of the "Regroupement Education Pour Tous" (EPT) organization, out of 175,000 girls who are entering their first year of fundamentalschool, there are only 18,000 in the 9th fundamental... Abandonments for various causes including unwanted pregnancies.

The Observatory plans to conduct awareness campaigns on family planning, child marriage, violence against girls and women and the elimination of stereotypes.
