iciHaiti - Beaumont : Angry mob attack and set fire to the police station

Tuesday evening in the locality of "Ti Ginen", during an operation of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), a motorcycle taxi driver was killed in unsolved circumstances. The popular clamor accuses a police officer of being responsible for the death of the driver.
Following the death of the driver, the angry population attacked and set fire to the Baumont police station. PNH officers on the premises fled to avoid being lynched by a furious crowd.
Agents of the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) based in Jérémie had to intervene in reinforcements to regain control of the situation and restore public order and avoid the destruction of the police station which was partially burned in this beginning riot. Although the calm returned to Beaumont, the tension remained palpable within the population.
