iciHaiti - Jérémie : Inauguration of a departmental office of the OPC

This week, Me Renan Hédouville, the Protector of the Citizen, in the presence of Fernando Hiraldo, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP-Haiti), le Me Amoce Auguste Coordinator of the Department of Minujusth, Souleymane Coulibaly Director General of the Office of the Protection of the Citizen (OPC), the Deputy of Jérémie Gladys ST Jean Lundy, the Secretary General of the Bar of Jérémie and the Representatives of the Police and the Civil Society, proceeded to the inauguration of the Departmental office of the OPC for Grand'Anse and the installation of Me Arold Nicolas as Departmental Director and Me Ketlie André Moïse as Head of Protection Department.
The opening of this new office, funded by Minujusth and UNDP, symbolizes the progress made by Haiti in establishing a strong and effective national institution for the protection of human rights. Equipped with furniture and computers, this office will now allow the OPC to receive complaints, investigate allegations of human rights violations, hold meetings and carry out protection activities in the region in better conditions. These actions help to enable Haiti to fulfill its international obligations to protect human rights.
